It is the crack of dawn and we are all awake to head to the airport for our flight to Luxor. The last two days have been quite eventful and I would love to have slept in but there is more to do so away we go. Wednesday we went out to Saqqara to see the Step Pyramid and a few other tombs around the area. Now we did not have a option to go into the Step Pyramid but we did have an chance to enter a smaller one. After Sakkarah we had a quick lunch and then went to a carpet making school. Once back at the hotel we had a chance to freshen up before our lecture with Dr. Hawass. The lecture was very interesting and he talked about what happened during the revolution. After the tour we had a chance to eat in the same restaurant as Dr. Hawass. The same night there was a lecture by Salina which we decided not to add on. Early to bed and early to rise sent us yesterday another meeting with Dr. Zahi Hawass at the tomb of the builders. Normally this site is closed to the public but we had special permission to enter. We were there for about two hours then off to Dashour, home of the Bent Pyramid. We did not have a chance to go into the Bent Pyramid but did go into the Red Pyramid next door. My legs really are tired of steep ramps that you can't stand up straight in. We also had a chance to go to a small museum at the site of Memphis. All in all we spent a good period of time riding on the bus. When we got back to the hotel we had a brief chance to shower and pack for today's flight before a lecture with Jehan Sadat. During our resting time I walked across the street to a place called Mimo's which sells souvenirs but Mimo and his family will find you what ever you need. Today it was packing tape and his nephew was more than happy to hunt some down. The talk with Mrs. Sadat was very nice and you can tell she has a great love of Egypt. She joined us for dinner but we were all anxious to get to bed for our 1:50 am wake up call. Today will be a long day but we are having a lot of fun.
