The last two days have been spent in Aswan as we explored Upper Egypt. On the 22nd we had another early morning, surprise surprise, getting up at 2:45 am to take a three plus hour bus ride out to Abu Simbel. So for people at home that is about 7 hours total on the bus. That being said it was worth the trip. After that once lunch was done we had a lovely felucca ride out to drop off our camel riders and we took a nice ride around the Nile. I did not do the camel rides because of allergies but Nancy had a great time. The next day we went to the Unfinished Obelisk, the High Dam, the Philae Temple to Isis and a place that made papyrus. I will say it was very neat to see the last writing in hieroglyphics at the Philae Temple and it reminded me of researching the Rosetta Stone. In the afternoon we want to a Nubian Village where we had henna done and I got to hold a young crocodile. We also spent some time inside the school learning the alphabet. We had a beautiful Nile ride out and back. In the evening I and a new friend Jennifer went out to the nearby market which was a local market and not all souvenir salesman and it was wonderful. We had a great time in Aswan but this morning we set sail back to Luxor. The great part of today is we had a day of no wake up calls and plenty of down time. Tonight we are having a galabeya party and I expect to have a lot of fun. Early morning again tomorrow as we fly back to Cairo.
