The Rosa and Andy Experience
Hey, (or as they say in brazil.... oi)
Currently in Parati, a really nice beach town that was recommended to us by a few people that we met in different places, always describing it as 'like paradice', can see what they mean. Been to a place called trindade today about half an hr away via some very obscur roads in a local van. Did a bit of exploring when there through some forest and came across an awesome beach with some huge waves, it was pretty much deserted apart the occasional passer by stumbling out from the same trail. Yesterday we went on a boat trip around some of the islands off the coast seeing some more amazing beaches and lots of random colourful fish whilst snorkelling and swimming around the boat and bay.
Since the last postcard we've been in Buenos Aires and then to Iguassu to see the falls, crossing over to brazil from argentina to see them from all angles, all of these places have definately been some of the best highlights so far.
We had an awesome time in Buenos Aires, despite feeling under the weather for part of the time (peru flu!!). It was really chilled out, definately one of the best cities we've been to, it felt really safe and everyone was really friendly. There was loads of funky bars, restaurants and cafes all opened until stupid times in the morning. I dont mind eating late, but not being able to get a table at this one restaurant we went to until past midnight i found a bit weird, was worth the wait though. It was nearly as good as a little place we went to close to the hostel, very local, was constantly full, and was the best value for money ive ever seen in a restaurant, an awesome argentinian fillet steak for around 2.50......cant go wrong!!!! Went to a tango show one of the nights at the world famous Tortoni Cafe, wasnt too bad, mananged to grit my teeth for the duration!! Nah, it was actually really good, its only a small place but aparently its better than most of the huge expensive shows, plus we got the benefit of actually being able to see them up close.
Iguassu provided some of the best views so far. The argentinian side was slightly better i think, but that may be a bit biased as we were able to go on a speed boat that took you close to the falls, drenching you at the same time. Got some excellent photos from both sides, the brazillian perhaps providing a better overall view, a dryer view anyway, which was probably a downfall as it was scorching hot. On the first day on the argentinian side we went on a jeep tour through the jungle, involving some amusing activities. The amusement coming from the look on Rosas face as she was hurled down a 200m zip line, before gaining the courage to abseil down a waterfall (another shower). I obviously took the activities like a man, although i may have looked slightly worried and surprised when i was pushed from the top of a red wood tree attached to a small bungee rope, its how they get you down aparently!!
Florianopolis was s*** hot (cheers betina)!! Despite the 3hr visit to the dentist cos my tooth decided to fall apart on the way to flori, we had a really good time, being chouffer driven around the island seeing some of the best beaches the city had to offer. We went sand surfing on the last day which was quality despite the amount of sand consumed!! Rosas still suffering from a sore arse since, due to many award winning arcrobatics! By the end of the day it was pretty obvious that the portuguese and brazillian girls couldnt handle the heat as they were both sunburnt, the brit on the other hand spent the day topping up his tan. (Cheers again Betina!!!!)
Off to Rio in the morning to get mugged at gunpoint!!!
Take care
