Our river trip on the Rio Frio from Nicaragua to Los Chiles in Costa Rica was great. We saw crocodiles, turtles, howler monkeys, kingfishers, egrets, herons, red-winged blackbirds and loads of other birds. Costa Rica is really beautiful and full of wildlife too. We´ve done lots of trekking in the rainforest and at nature reserves along the pacific coast. We´ve climbed a few more volcanoes and seen white faced monkeys, vine snakes, blue tailed lizards, massive butterflies, and the most strange crabs ever! They have black bodies, purple claws and bright orange legs!! AND they live in the forest. (Wait for the photos to see for yourselves...) We´ve seen an amazing number of beautiful birds. So colourful!
We did a zip line tour through the treetops of the primary and secondary cloud forest, which involved 19 cables and a massive tarzan swing. An incredible experience that left Andrea´s legs shaking for some time afterwards!
We finished our tour of Costa Rica in San Jose, sipping great coffee, sampling the local nightlife and enjoying the culture (until Julien sprained his ankle!). Next stop Panama City.
