The best van park yet! Good sites and great hosts, Dave and Jodie. We called in to see a mate from home and decided to stay an extra day after staying the previous night in Injune. The weather is warming but the nights are still chilly. Roads have been OK after the floods but there are many stops for roadworks. We will be travelling to Charters Towers for a couple of days tomorrow and then on northwards.

Lightning Ridge is still the great interesting piece of Australia. Spent the morning on a mine tour where a retired miner is carving the sandstone walls. There are over 500 carvings and are not to be missed. Spent the afternoon soaking in the Hot Bore baths, and if you have seen the movie "Cocoon" use your imagination. Off to Injune tomorrow.

Finally on the road and made Peak Hill for the first night. Almost empty caravan park with good facilities. Will be heading for Lightning Ridge tomorrow. Looking foward to a plunge in the hot springs pool and a day in town.

We are almost ready to leave looking for sunshine. The weather is fairly typical with cold overcast days and not much rain. The caravan looks great with the new paint and we should leave next Saturday. Updates along the way

Day 2 Tanunda Hi folks, I've been told it is my turn to rave on tonight. Have a look a last night's dinner. The yabbies were wonderful and I must say the bucket on the floor of the caravan to catch the shells was a brilliant idea. Not very elegant but very efficient. Today we went to only 2 wineries, Domain Day in Williamstown, just a short drive from here and Jacob's Creek. Domain Day was very interesting and Ray found a lovely red, Saperavi, which was n...
