Arrived here on tuesday and had a bad night as the roads had caused a crack in one corner of the van and we had a very wet bed during heavy rain. All fixed now. Had a visit from brother Ian and caught up. He will be back next week to start his new pub. Most of the people here are from down south doing the same as us looking for warmth. Left Charters Towers this morning after another very good happy hours last night. Travelled via Townsville (outskirts) and on to Cardwell. Travelled from Capella via Clermont and Belyando Crossing to Charters Towers. Saw heaps of humpy backed cattle in great condition. Little flood damage except on the roads which vary from terrific to terrible sometimes within 1 km. Stopped for fuel ($1.75 litre) at Belyando Crossing. Just a bush servo with a rest area but as you can see from the picture Denny found some friends. Settled into van park in Charters Towers and are off to happy hour at 5.00pm followed...
