After finally sleeping off our jet lag late into the afternoon we decided to explore Bangkok's nightlife, ending up in Patpong…..Bangkok's Soho. We stopped off at a deserted bar (Afterlife) due to the pouring rain, taking shelter and a few beers of course. We then participated in '2 shoot' pool, watched and amused by the helpful bar man 'Nu', who was having a great laugh at our expense due to our lack of pool skills and Sarah flashing her bra everytime she lined up a shot. Grrrr. The night-market surrounding Patpong is lined with designer labels like Gucci, Rayban, Mulberry at half the cost, you just need to bring along with you your bartering skills. Easier said than done. As you weave your way through the market you'll hear numerous calls of 'PingPong Show…Sexy Ladies…Sexy Boys'. Followed by a menu shoved under your nose of what the girls can do for you. Tempting as this was we passed. After walking round and round, passing the same ol' go-go clubs searching for a mate who was also in Bangkok we stopped at a place called Radio City. We had to. They had a Thai Elvis performing. Hell yeah!! Apparently there's a top Thai Tom Jones, but it must have been his night off. After a beer, Rachel needed the loo, so off she went leaving Sarah to stare at the old western men with their young Thai ladies. Unknown to Rachel as she's washing her hands, woah!! What this?!? A tiny Thai lady is giving her a massage. Thanks love, I think I'll pass. At least Sarah had a laugh at this. Just in time for act 2 of Radio City's top notch entertainment. A band take to the stage and start off with a couple of Guns 'n' Roses covers. Not bad. The guy can sing and the guitars are great. Could be cool. But wait, they are now singing Enrique Iglesias and Black Eyed Peas. It turns out there is no greater sight or sound than a Thai man rapping along to Pitbull and Will.I.AM. Love it!
