We had our last lovely breakfast today at the hotel so we made the most of it and ate as much as we could! Once sorted we checked out an hour early so they could sort the room and just sat on the computers in the lobby for the next couple of hours. The computers were ridiculously slow and kept crashing so I didn't get any pictures saved or sorted but Nath managed to check us in for our flight to Bangkok and print the boarding passes so at least that was one productive thing!
The bus turned up late which was no surprise but it was the big bus not a mini bus like we expected. It was pretty old and rickety but we expected that anyway. We were suppose to transfer to Hue to the sleeper bus and set off from there at 5.30pm but because we set off late then stopped for half an hour at a service station (we did get some food so weren't complaining) we didn't get in until after 6pm. The bus dropped the people off for Hue in the middle of nowhere bless them and then brought us to the sleeper bus on a random street. We had our mission plan in place so we could try and get seats together since we didn't have seat number or anything! I would quickly get off the coach and go straight to the sleeper bus to get beds and Nath would get our big bags and put them on the bus.
Thank god as well!! I got to the bus first from our coach and got the two last beds left together! The bus was already nearly full with people from Hue and other places so all the beds were nearly taken. Someone else had the same idea as me but luckily I got on the bus first ha! More and more people kept getting on and I was thinking where are they going to go?! Turns out they are told to lay on the floor and didn't even get a bed!! They had put too many people on the bus with not enough beds. They were told that they would have to wait until some people got off at a stop in a couple of hours and then there would be a bed. I felt sorry for them but we were so glad that wasn't us!!
There was also a working toilet on board which they hadn't locked so that was good as we were worried about a toilet! The toilet did have somebody's sick in the sink though which wasn't pleasant! It wasn't as good of a bus as the last ones but at least we had a bed and a toilet so we were more than happy!! The last sleeper bus we will be doing now!!
The journey turned out to be the worst one we have done yet! At first they had the girls in the isle, one right next to my bed, but she was English so I could at least tell her when I needed to get past for the toilet. We stopped for dinner about half 8 so me and Nath got fried rice again for the second time today. Thank god for fried rice!
Later on as we were laying down to get some sleep about half 11, two Vietnamese men got on and were told to lay in the isle where the girls had been, who now had a bed. The guy right between mine and Naths bed was the rudest guy I've ever come across. We were clearly trying to sleep but he didn't really give a s*** about that or the fact that my bed wasn't his bed! He first was elbowing us while he was trying to sort himself out, it seemed like a bit of an arrogant thing too as when I said excuse me to him to move his elbow out of my back he did nothing, I asked again, still nothing, so I just pushed his arm off my bed! He kept doing the same with Nath too and then once he laid down he kept putting his crusty bare feet on my back and leg whilst I was trying to sleep, he even tried to put his leg in my bed too! I just kept hitting it away back to the floor! Obviously couldn't get any sleep though and had to climb over him and over Naths bed to get to the toilet! I thought he would have been in my bed by the time I got back!
After a good fight with me for about an hour, he seemed to give up and moved onto Nath as his next target, doing the same with him! Nath did the same as me and kept elbowing him away! The guy took no notice of us at all and must have thought that it was his right! Then like something out of a horror film, the guy was snoring and in a deep sleep and then just sat up right next to our beds, still asleep and just swayed there for a while before falling back down, still asleep- then repeated this again! At least he was getting a good sleep anyway!
The guys eventually got off the bus around 2am. The driver was constantly stopping for the full trip picking and dropping off locals for an little extra money for himself. Don't think I really slept at all, just tossed and turned for the full night! It was awful! To top it all off, still when we were trying to sleep, the driver started blaring his music about 6.45am, then turned it down, then did it again! If you wasn't awake, that woke you up with a shock! Never been so happy to have a journey end!
