We had a bit of a sleep in this morning with the hope of feeling better, which we both did. We had planned on going to Doi Sutep mountain which also had a temple near the top, but when we had done a bit of research on it last night we found out it was pretty much impossible for us to ride up there, unless you were some sort of hardcore pro rider! The roads were way too steep and it was 18km so we thought we would give it a miss!
We had a walk to the Central Department Shopping Centre instead and had a nosy around and decided we would go to the cinema later. I did some shopping and got some more clothes; a dress, a pair of shorts, two pairs of trousers and two tops, all for £15! The film wasn't on until later so we walked to the only park in Chaing Mai city and had a walk around before getting some lunch. Nath tried a coconut drink at the park which he had been meaning to try. It was literally a coconut cracked open with a straw in to drink the juice in and then a spoon to eat the coconut. I didn't like it but Nath thought it was okay. Something else we have tried! We both tried iced coffees the other day too so that was our new thing now! We loved them! I haven't done bad to say I hated coffee before I came!!
We read about another cinema that was suppose to be better so we decided to have a walk to that and check it out. It was at the Airport Plaza Shopping Centre and we had to walk on a small path alongside the highway. Chaing Mai is the only place we have been to where everything is within such easy distance. We had been to the bus stataion, train station and now right near the airport with such ease! We do like walking more than most though so it was very easy for us to walk to as it was only half an hour a way. To everybody else, tourists and locals, that seems to be way too far to walk! It may be that transport is so cheap too so nobody feels the need to walk but we prefer it as you see more! When we got to the shopping centre there were no films on there that we wanted to see so we got a tuk tuk back to the other cinema in time to see American Sniper. The cinema cost us £2.40 each and popcorn and a drink was £1 each- bargain! There was only us and 4 other people in the whole huge cinema for the film as well! It made it a little more awkward though when we had to stand up for the anthem for the King though!
After the cinema it was about half 7 so dinner was calling! A market selling clothes and food had set up outside the shopping centre so we just got some food from there. We couldn't resist the pad tai again and we got some sushi which we hadn't managed to get in a while! I tried chicken liver on a skewer for the first time and thought it was nice- Nath didn't like it so much! God we love these street markets though! We have missed them! I'm thinking of living here. I love Chiang Mai, already my favourite place so far! Love it! Lovely people, lovely city- you can see mountains and have lovely surrounding that you can visit- what more would you need?! The walk home was nice as well. It seemed like a very safe city in comparison with some. We didn't feel at all uncomfortable and there were no shifty people and there were always people about everywhere until late.
