26th-27th March After our drive down from Cape Reigna we found a free DOC campsite to stay at not far from Kaitaia on State Highway 1. The site was just a large grassed areas across a stream in the forest and it had a long drop toilet (no flush, just a long drop into the toilet- the site at Cape Reigna had one too), which scared me a little. 25th-26th March We set off from Paihia quite early in the morning and headed up the twin coast discovery and then onto the only highway towards Cape Reigna. On the way we stopped at Doubtless Bay, which was lovely. 22nd-25th March We followed the twin coast discovery route from Whangarei to Paihia on the 22nd. We stopped at the Tutukaka coast to get a nice view of the beach. We then stopped in Kawakawa to see and use the famous Hundertwasser toilets (toilets designed by a famous Austrian architect). They were pretty good toilets. 19th- 22nd March The camper van is brilliant, we love it! It's a little white 2004 Toyota hi ace that we have named Dorris or Dozza when she is been crazy! She is a little old and rusty but we can't complain at all. We were expecting the worst so we are very happy. She has everything we need; fridge, hob, grill, microwave, kettle, toaster, sink, cold water, portable loo, nice comfy double bed and enough storage for all our bags and shopping! 14th-19th March We stayed in Auckland for 5 nights in a hostel just up the hill from the city centre. They city was very hilly! We got some right exercise! The hostel was okay. Our room was a little box with bunk beds. There was a shared shower and toilet room but there were more than enough of them for the whole hostel. There was a shared kitchen too.
