Day 2 of the slowboat cruise, this time I wasn't as excited as it would be the same as the day before.
We boarded the boat 8am, ready to set off at 8:30. Only we were on Laos time now so set off at 9:00am. No one had told us/ didn't know how to tell us how long the journey would be so we were just guessing amongst ourselves.
The weather was nicer today, less clouds so the scenery looked even better. Whilst sailing down we saw some elephants playing in the river which was awesome to watch.
Throughout the ride we kept stopping at little villages that had no more than 10 houses to pick locals up. The transport network isn't very good in Laos so we think the slowboat is how they got around. Fancy having to take a 4+ hour trip to do your shopping and then to return!
We arrived at the port in Luang Prabang at 5pm and caught a tuk tuk to our guesthouse. The room we had had carpets! Heaven for our feet after lots of walking and solid floors.
After freshening up we headed to the night market and I bought my Grandma a birthday present. I can't tell you what incase she reads this as I still have to figure out when and where to send it home. I've read some bad reviews about post offices in SE Asia losing post so I might wait till Singapore.
We then found a lovely rooftop bar and had pizza and cocktails whilst over looking the night market.
