Well today was supposed to be raining and it did very only for about 10 mins at a time and it was quite light rain. I slept in this morning until about 12noon having gone to sleep about 9pm. i was so tired after missing out on a lot of sleep on my flight. I got the bus to the Auckland Museum which was really good. They had a lot of different exhibitions from Maori traditional carvings and stuff, natural history and war artifacts. I watched the Maori Cultural Performance which was great! There were a group of Maori who performed traditional dances and pastimes for us, explaining what they were doing throughout. At the end they did the Haka. I managed to get a bit of it on film and I've got a cool picture of one of the guys with his tongue out looking really scary! The best bit of the museum after that was in the volcano exhibition where we sat in the living room of an Auckland home and watched the news about an imminent volcano eruption and then we saw what happened out of the "window"! The room shook and we watched at the volcano erupted and the dark clouds of the pyroclastic flows came toward us very fast and then it hit us and everything went black! It was a bit scary but I couldn't look scared as there was small children in there too! I'm glad they don't expect an eruption any time soon! I wouldn't want to be anywhere near here!

The museum is set up on a dormant volcano which is now a big park called Auckland Domain. From out the windows of the museum you can see over to the harbour and the other islands and one of the volcanos. The water here is a fab green/blue colour. And with the sun shining it's really hot and its just amazing. Absolutely beautiful.

The hostel is ok. I'm in a mixed dorm which isn't what I booked but is what I paid for! Can't be bothered to change it now as i don't really mind and I'm glad I didn't pay as much now. Had a great night's sleep last night.

Tomorrow I'm doing a Harbour Cruise so I'll get to see the amazing water close up and I'll take loads of pictures! The price also includes a hot drink and a muffin on the boat and also a return ferry trip to Devonport so I'll go there in the afternoon. I've got to get up early tomorrow. About 8am. Better go to bed soon! It's 7pm! Only joking! I haven't eaten yet. I plan to check out the hostel's cafe as it should be quite cheap.

Am having a really good time and this place is so small really. Just a short bus journey takes you out of Downtown and into the suburbs where it doesn't feel like a city at all. It's really nice here. If anyone's thinking about coming to New Zealand you should do it! And come via LA with Air New Zealand as you can have a stop over of a day or so and then fly here overnight and you don't get jet lagged. Do it! Do it now!

Well I'm going to check the weather report tomorrow and see if I'll be on the boat in the rain!
