Feeling a little bit rushed after our last minute decision to get the bus this morning, we left at 8am to get to our first stop, Lake Matheson, to catch the mirror reflection of Mount Cook in the lake.
The hour walk in the morning was a bit much, although it was beautiful, and by the time we got back to the bus, we could tell this was going to be a very long day!
We stopped a few more times during the day for scenic photos and food breaks, but all we wanted was to get to Wanaka and rest. 7 hours later, we finally got there.
After a really rubbish day on the bus, we felt a little bit better once we arrived in Wanaka - deciding within the first few minutes of being there that it was one of our favourite places so far. The town was laid out around the lake and mountains and was full of cute cafes and shops, making it a very chilled vibe and somewhere I could definitely spend a week or so just relaxing.
We decided to treat ourselves and ditched the boys for some girl time at a Mexican restaurant, before making our way to the old fashioned cinema in town to watch Focus.
Sadly I only made it 20 minutes into the film before I felt like I was about to be sick/pass out so I went back to the hostel to lie down. Doctor Mum decided I wasn't eating enough for the amount of activities I was doing, so I sent a very worried DG to the supermarket to stock up on snacks and juices before I went straight to bed, hoping I was going to feel a hell of a lot better for our first night in Queenstown tomorrow.
