Lane's Oz Adventure
So after so many dull weeks in Cairns I eventually booked myself on a trip to get my trip moving again. I choose Cape Tribulation cause it is in the middle of the rainforest and it's a national heritage site due to the fact the rainforest meets the barrier reef.
It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I was lucky to stay in a little wood cabin which was set right in the heart of the rainforest but also with access right on to the beach. So I spent the first day on a river boat cruise where we saw loads of crocs in their natural habitat. This is quite scary territory cause you get the crocs not only in the lakes and rivers but also in the sea so you do have to be quite aware.
After the croc cruise I spent the rest of the day walking through the rainforest and then relaxing on the beach. It really is a hard life out here!!
In the afternoon I bumped into these wild cassowaries which are these wild birds. They are really crazy so you have to be quite weary, they have been known to attack.
I met some really nice people out there. As there is literally no communication out there, you spend the evenings sitting around the resort playing board games. It is a little surreal cause it's not the usual night out but still it was so relaxing and made a really nice change.
The next day I booked myself on a boat out to the barrier reef. I had a lovely day although it was really windy so the trip was quite choppy. I got to go snorkelling and saw some really beautiful coral and fish. (I will pre-warn everyone that I didn't actually take any photos of the barrier reef as it was hard to take photos that would do it justice cause you cannot get ariel photos).
I spent my last day visiting some more of the rainforest and a place called Port Douglas which is where I will be spending my birthday.
So that is my update so far, keep the messages coming cause I love hearing from you all.
Lot's of Love
Rachel
