Rachel's Travels...
No suprise that I didn't manage to get up - my alarm went off at 6 and I switched it straight off. Had to get up at 8.30 thought to go on a two
hour horse ride. It was amazing - we went along the beach - I had a
nice long canter, although when I tried to get my horse to go in the surf she just bolted (I think she was called something like 'Just Juice' but I could be really wrong there). We also went up into the hills along so quite steep bits with big drops! But I loved it, the scenery was brilliant.
Left the farmstay after this and headed towards Gisborne. Stopped at Tolaga Bay to walk along the longest wharf in the southern hemisphere (about 600m I think) and then stopped to look at the little town of
Whanagara where Whale Rider was shot. The place we were staying at in Gisborne was called the Chalet Surf Lodge and was about 7km outside of Gisborn. It was a nice place, had sky tv! and was also right on the beach. The beach was lovely - went for a walk along it and had a paddle - the sea was freezing, but it was another really nice and hot day. Played some pool - which I lost and played cards and watched telly.
