Arrived in Surfers Paradise on the 19th november,
On the bus to, the driver informs us Queensland is 1 hour behind new south wales, quite random, changed my clock back.
The bus from Byron Bay took just over an hour. Arrived at the transit centre and went inside to the info desk who phoned the hostel for the mini bus to pick me up. When the minibus arrived the driver informed me it was schoolies in surfers paradise, starting today and for the next 3 weeks. this is basically all the school leavers, 17 and 18 year olds, come to surfers paradise for the week after finishing school. kids everywhere!
That night in the hostel there was an organised bar crawl, which I attended, recieving a free sunhat, lanyard, glow stick and garland. Met lots of people in the hostel bar before we went on the bar crawl. A party bus picked us up at 11, couldnt say which bars we went but it was a good night.
Sunday 20th november- MY BIRTHDAY!
Opened my cards from home to find photographs of me and my family when I was little. was really nice but made me cry.
Had a chilled day, went to the beach, came back to the hostel and there was a bbq on. the whole hostel sang happy birthday too me, and clapped me embarassing, but nice.
I liked surfers although it reminded me alot of a spanish holiday resort, maybe the fact it was so busy with schoolies, the high rise buildings and general layout of the town.
