After breakfast today the plan was to travel by boat down the Perfume River, around which the city of Hue is situated. The whole family live on the boat which makes money by taking tourist trips up and down the river and also by selling souveneirs. This one took us to the Thien Mu Pagoda, a place where monks are trained. We also went inside the walled Imperial City, which was a palace from the Nguyen Dynasty. Unfortunately it was heavily damaged during the Vietnam War. Had lunch at a nice restaurant with the usual 7 courses! My belly is starting to make me look like a laughing Bhudda! (People keep thinking I'm a reincarnation and are getting down on their knees in front of me!) On to a couple more Mausoleums before returning to the Hotel for a dip in the pool which was exremely cold (even by Tasmanian standards) Had a walk along the river after dark and checked out all the markets and food vendors scattered along the river. Lots of families all out having fun. Returned for dinner at the pub next to our hotel.
