A bit overcast today but the promised rain hasn't come so we set off for a walk to the next beach village to the north, An Bang Beach. We walked along the road looking at all the interesting village life along the way. Lots of building rubble everywhere. It seems when a house is demolished the bricks are just left in a pile and the vegetation takes over. Lots of semi demolished houses here. Weather is still good! Hasn't been a drop of rain for the entire trip (so far) although rain is forecast for tomorrow so we will see. Had a nice buffet breakfast outside which we enjoyed. All of the hotels make an omolette to order so you specify the fillings and they cook it for you while you wait. Had a more leisurely start today as we had no set activities. Wandered into breakfast which was the usual magnificent buffet that all the hotels we have stayed at provide. Somehow I just can't eat noodles or rice for breakfast though and museli, fruit, yoghurt, toast and an egg are much more enjoyable. Today is the last day of organised activities. Our guide picked us up at 8.00AM for the drive to My Son, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The drive there was a bit hair raising as the new driver was young and fancied himself as a Formula One driver. We arrived, slightly breathless and wandered around the ruins, some dating back to 200 B.C. but the majority around 1000 A.D. After breakfast our guide arrived and we rode pushbikes through part of the town to a jetty where we caught a boat. We took the bikes on the boat and motored to a fishing village where we visited the home of a fisherman and he showed us how to weave nylon into a net. I failed miserably and the look on the fisherman's face said it all.
