5:30am and BING, I am awake! I wondered upstairs in the hope of catching sunrise! it was a pretty overcast day so unfortunately it wasnt the best but just siting up on deck, everyone still asleep, the boat was still traveling in the direction of Karimata.. But now u could start to see the mountain formations upon the horizon! This morning was beautiful: alone, Just chilling in the breeze, wrapped up in thoughts, heading effortlessly across the south china sea...
Breakfast was served at 8am overlooking the expanding islands.. And our first dive was at surunggading island (in the karimata bunker group). Nudies, shrimps that's about it!
Spend dive was at Pilau blian.. Awesome! Very beautiful coral, nice drift dive! Saw a huge school of fleeing batfish, tiny little juvenile harlequin sweetlip, nudies, baby octopus, baby cuttlefish, urchin shrimps, scorpionfish. Really cool! the coral garden are spectacular.. Whip corals and gorgonian sea fans everywhere. Very nice!
The 3rd dive was at a bunch of rocks (that from the surface looks like a dive site we have in similans called elephant head rock) that we called hard rock cafe! In we jumped to discover quite poor visibility, very silty rocks... But a exciting eeriness to the place. We found huge (and I mean huge!) 2 deviations of marble rays lying in the sand.. And a purple stone fish! Whoop whoop! Super cool!
Today's dives were all exploratory! None of the crew has dived these places before and there is no info on the internet and of course no dive center right on the beach! Kinda cool huh!
After the 3rd dive we begin our 40 hour journey to the south of Kalimantan (indonesion, Borneo) to visit the orangutans. We have been so lucky with the weather, only that storm I slept through the other morning and that it! Sea has been so calm. So we have 2 travel days ahead of us! Books out, bikinis on.. I'm on holidays!
