Yes another blog from the shire of Baulkham Hills! I have verbal diarrhoea at the moment because I am so excited eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkk! I am finally going to get to go travelling for real!
So Matt arrives here on Sunday morning, I am taking an overnight bus to Melbourne and will meet him pretty much at the same time as he arrives. He is going to get the shock of his life because I have spent the last 6 weeks shovelling chocolate down my throat by the ton, to the point where i have made myself ill and put on the best part of a stone ha ha! Just replacing one addicition with another, isn't that normal?! We're booked into a hostel in the City Centre of Melbourne above a pub, then we fly to Tasmania on the 17th, where my first 'must-see' destination is the cadbury chocolate factory. As you can see, I am on a fast track route to becoming the seasoned traveller (albeit an obese one)! From Tassie, we will fly back to Melbourne for a couple of days before we pick up our campervan and drive along the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide and then through the Northern Territory. My hit list in Melbourne will be the Gaol where 175 people have been hanged, the Museum of the Moving Image because it is free and the Neighbours tour even though the only member of the cast left that I remember is Dr Karl Kennedy!
I heard the funniest thing today at work, one of the women in my team was pouring yoghurt (yoe-gurt) into a bowl for breakfast and a guy asked her outright if she was greek, so she replied 'no, why do you ask?' so he said 'because you're eating greek yoghurt'. Ha ha ha! Granted, the tub did say 'Greek Yoghurt' on the front but was he having a laugh or what?!
So this could be my last weekend in Sydney! I am so happy to be moving on but do hope to come back at some stage. Not for office work though, I think I have finally seen enough offices for one lifetime. For real! I'm looking forward to the fruitpicking come April. Apparently you can get paid up to $1,000 per week in the Northern Territory, which is how much I have been earning before tax here! Failing that, I am going to meet some mates in Bundaburg. They are working just 4 hours a day and its enough to pay the bills and catch some rays in the afternoon. What a life!
Although I did spend last Thursday and Friday sitting round the pool drinking wine and JD last week! Managed to top up my rapidly fading tan quite nicely, even if my bum did get ravaged by mosquitos!
I've just realised I haven't even mentioned the Mardi Gras! I hit the town in heels (regrettably) accompanied by several men dressed as school girls, aka 'chicks with d*** ' - photos to follow. We walked all the way from Kings Cross to Oxford Street where the parade was being held, having stopped off at a bottle-o along the way, a blatant 'up yours' to the no-alcohol policy. Oxford Street was ram packed with gays, lesbians, trannies and straight people dressed up in all sorts of outfits from fairies to gimps! Make sure you get a good look of the guy in the leather bondage thong, I even zoomed in ha ha!
Right, time to put a cork in it and get back to work! Not that I have anything to do, my boss isn't in for the rest of the week, yipeeeeee!
Missing everyone loads!
