23 July: Sapa
Today had nothing on the agenda, I was still sick and much more than the previous day, still feeling dizzy with blurred vision. It didn't take long before I got nauseous and had to run for the bathroom. A little later we moved back to our old room, with internet and hot water, they had been unable to find the mouse in their search, but assured us it was there no more. Leanne arranged for a baguette, butter and jam, although she wouldn't let me eat any butter! The rest of the morning I slept, more than 4 hours after a long nights sleep. During this time Leanne went through the diary, updated the blog and photos and spent some time reading, also a quiet day for her.
By 14h00 I was feeling a little better and we headed to find food. Leanne insisted we rather eat at a restaurant rather than sit in the market with the cooked chickens and uncooked meats displayed in front of us, lest it make me nauseous. We found a nice restaurant just before the market, the food was double the price for the same size portion, after eating I felt better and wanted to have something at the market, rather than pay the US prices. We settled for a bowl of noodles and vegetables after which we headed back to the hotel where I drifted between awake and asleep, while Leanne read.
After a few hours I joined her on the balcony, where we chatted and watched as the mist rolled in over the mountains, then out of the blue I felt nauseous and lost my lunch. I wasn't up for dinner and wanted only to stay in the room and sleep, Leanne insisted I at least eat some bread. While I was sleeping she walked to the market where everyone had already started to pack up, sweeping all the muck on the floor where one walked. It had already started to become dark and she was unable to find bread there. She was directed to a small bakery further down the road where she was able to find a freshly baked coconut bread and also some water at a good price. Back in the room we still had some banana's which we were able to use for the bread, turned out very enjoyable. The rest of the evening was spent listening to music, while Leanne updated the photos on the blog.
