30 May
The next morning we were up at 09h00, not as much sleep as we would have wanted to have but we had to be out of the room at 11h00. We headed down to reception, our package had made provision that the hotel would drop us off at the train station upon our return. We were however staying longer to do a 5 day Thai massage course and wanted them to drop us off at our new accommodation, initially they had no problem with it and asked us to sit and wait for the taxi. We had not yet received the fax of proof of postage so I called them again, after 30 minutes a fax came through. After further inspection it was obvious that it was not a postage receipt but a document we had completed of our address.
By now I was furious and contacted the tourist police, after explaining the situation 20 times the officer told me he would contact them, after which I needed to contact him again. We had now been waiting 1 ½ hours for the taxi. I asked the receptionist when it would arrive after which we were told they can't get one for us but when we leave they will arrange for transport to the train station. We picked up our bags and walked the 2 km to our new accommodation, which we had no trouble finding.
Our new accommodation was a large room which was exceptionally clean and was half the price the hotel offered us if we stayed another night. We headed out to find lunch after which we returned for a 3 hour sleep, waking up at 17h00 and heading to the Saturday night market. This was a huge market filled with stalls, unlike the tourist market street, everything was relatively priced. The difference however was that they were not prepared to discount their products much, we ended up buying some beautiful woodwork and other souvenirs before heading back.
