Spent this morning cruising the Beagle Channel with my new friend Cecilia. She's heading off this evening on the MV Plancius for her Antarctic adventure following pretty much the same route as I will be in 2 days time. Lovely girl from Canada. I hope she has a fab cruise. Will be interesting to compare notes.
The Beagle Channel cruise was great. We saw South (American) sea lions, and various birds including Rock and Imperial cormorants. It was a nice taste of what we have to come over the coming weeks although not easy to get photos when the boat was rocking up and down in a decent sized swell!
It's a lot colder here today. The crew on the boat warmed us up at the end of the cruise with a home made coffee liqueur. Even though I am not a coffee fan, I downed the shot with relish. It's sensible drinking shots with people you dont know out of an unmarked bottle when you dont know whats in it isnt it? hehehehehehe
I was going to visit the prison museum this afternoon but anoth night of only 3 hours sleep is catching up with me. Maybe tomorrow Ill check it out. I did manage to stay awake long enough to post some pics of this cute little town and the Beagle Channel (one of only 3 natural routes between Atlantic and Pacific Oceans aparently)
I have to change hotels tomorrow which will be a little bit of a pain (new hotel further away from the "action") but it does mark the start of my G Adventures, Spirit of Shackelton Antarctic tour so is a little on the exciting side!
