We arrived back in Ushuaia early yesterday evening after an exceptionally smooth trip across the Drake. (ok so I was a bit disappointed we didn't get any of the rough seas the Drake is famous for). The big day is getting closer! Today I moved from the Antarctica Hostel in town up to the Hotel Ushuaia which is my joining hotel for the cruise. The hotel itself is very nice and has lovely views over the town and the Beagle Channel but it's a fair hike down to the shopping and restaurant areas of town and a tiring one back up (about 20 minutes up steep slopes and stairs). Spent this morning cruising the Beagle Channel with my new friend Cecilia. She's heading off this evening on the MV Plancius for her Antarctic adventure following pretty much the same route as I will be in 2 days time. Lovely girl from Canada. I hope she has a fab cruise. Well I've made it to the End of the World :) Otherwise known as Ushuaia this a little touch of Scandinavia in south America. You can even order "Swiss sauce" (white or cheese sauce) on your steak.
