Arse cheeks clenched and arse against the wall it's New Orleans! So since when did New Orleans become the gay capital of the world? The first thing I see when I walk into the Franch Quarter is a guy behind the bar with no top on, two guys walking along hand in hand and then a guy who is about 6ft5 big square chin walking down the street with a red mini skirt on.
I freaked out and wasn't sure if I should keep walking or run back the way I'd just come. I kept walking as fast as I could and finally came back into reality. After speaking to a few guys in a bar later I found out that I'd walked straight into the gay district and it's only about 2 blocks in size but it happened to be the first freakin place that I walked into.
Bourbon Street and the surrounding area is lined with bar after bar and would be a great place to go for a group of guys (not gays!) for the weekend. Thats all I'll say!
The French Quarter survived hurricane Katrina as it was one of the few places in New Orleans which is actually above sea level so it escaped the worst of the flooding. Seems brainless building the rest of the city below sea level though.
the French quarter is a really beautiful area but there is little to actually do apart from walk about the place and drink, which actually suited me fine to be honest!
