Well today was a bit of a cruisey day ( not sure if the e should be there in cruisey). We bid farewell to NY and headed via train to Washington. We had an early breakfast and then had a speedy trip ( all taxi trips are fast) to Penn station. This was a very busy, crazy and confusing place. We were a tad frazzled/dazzled with this place. We struggled to get our tickets ..and then they really didn't tell us much in relation to track or seat numbers. But anyway we finally found our train, a place to put our growing luggage and some seats. The train trip itself wasn't too bad and it only took about 3 1/2 hours to get from NY to Washington going through such cities as Philadelphia and Baltimore on the way. Once at union station we had to wait a bit for a taxi...but they have a well organized system in place. When we arrived at the Madison, the place we were staying we were greeted by a jovial lad who took our bags. I have learnt that you need to have a pocket full of $1 or tipping can be rather costly! Our room is mighty nice (as can be seen from some of the photos) and the mini bar goodies look very enticing ! We went for a quick bite to eat at Rosi, which seems to be a Mediterranean version of subway...very yummy. We are now just relaxing and recovering from our rate hectic NY experience (As I type this Hannah is snoozing on the bed...if you listen closely you may be able to hear her snore ! ) We plan to go to the gym at five (cough cough) and have tea at the hotel restaurant...we will probably have a quiet night to prepare for our big sight-seeing day tomorrow.
In reflecting on NY..they are right it is a town that never sleeps...we had construction across the road and they worked 24/7...and talking about construction NY is a city remodeling itself on a constant basis. Without fail there was some form of construction work on every street. ..and by the way I don't know where the ferry I mentioned was going but we went on the Staten Island ferry yesterday !!!. In concluding the people of NY are very polite, vibrant and proud of their city which made it a very entertaining and enjoyable stay in NY.
