I awake from the rug to the smell of breakfast. The rug is incredibly comfy and with the sound of the TV had dozed off. Bleary eyed I walk the 5 metres to breakfast. I love the little sachets of coffee they have here and always 1 grabbed with breakfast and another outside talking with Justin and Lisa on the step. I try to go to bed but get awoken with someone asking me to pay. I go to front desk and pay for my room. In between drilling, work which is being done in the hostel, I sleep. The term here being called a 'tactical nap'. With a great vista view from the hostel window I have dinner with Lulu, She goes for nachos and I stick with a burger. I meet an English lad living in Hong Kong called Sam. A friendly and interesting fellow. He does comedy events in his spare time and it shows. Tired he keeps a smile on my face. The evening begins with a beer pong tournament.
Its good fun and creates a great atmosphere in the hostel. Sam wins it along with his French game partner. One of the girls Sunshine is leaving the hostel so they prepare a fish hotpot, the dish coming from a local waterfall. I get invited to join and although not a big fish eater, it was a white meat and very tasty. The locals are drinking a special rice wine that is laced with cocaine. The younger hostel party animals miss out on this experience, too eager to go to Mama's. Sometimes it pays to join in with the local culture and experience what they try as a celebration.
