Today we took a flight from Chiang Mai to Koh Samui airport. The only good thing about having to book a flight directly to Koh Samui was that we didn't have to spend all day and all night on a train going from Chiang Mai to Bangkok and then to Koh Samui, after taking a 2 hour ferry as well.
When we got to Chiang Mai airport, Bangkok Airlines had a customer lounge which had free food, drink and Wi-Fi so Christina and I headed straight there and relaxed playing dominos and drinking free drinks until it was time to get on the plane for out 2.5 hour journey.
Arriving and getting our bags at Koh Samui Airport was pretty painless and the airport was only tiny so there were not many people around. We hadn’t booked an airport pick up from the hotel so we got a taxi to take us there. When we got there (which was a day early) there was no one there to check us in except the restaurant manager and he only gave us a key and took us up to the room. It looked like we were the only people here. The place was deserted.
Once we got our things sorted out we went out for a walk in the town. We stumbled across an irish bar and had a few drinks. Then I got challenged to a game of pool by the manager for a beer and she broke, potted the white ball, and then by some miracle I got all 7 balls and the black down on my first go. She was somewhat surprised. Later on that night she challenged me to a rematch and this time it went all the way to the black ball and I eventually won again and another free beer!!! Good night was had by all.
