First thing this morning I went down to reception to see if I could hire a car for the day, they said that they could take me to a company they knew which were reasonable and didn't rip you off when you returned the car. Great, so I jumped in, went to town and picked up a Toyota Hilux for £16 per day. It was a little old and battered but was cheaper than the newer model and I guessed that if I put a scratch or two on it they wouldn’t notice so much. If you have ever been here and seen they way they drive over here, you will understand my thinking behind this.
We had absolutely no idea where we were going to drive today, so we got a map, got out the laptop and checked online to see if there were any geocaches located on the island. There where about 7 or 8 of them, so we used this to plot our route around the island enabling us to see the whole island and also have some places to head to.
I think we managed to find 6 out of the 7 caches as one of them was a 3 hour hike up the highest mountain on the island. The geocaching did take us to a temple or two, a secluded and deserted beach, a Chinese style temple, great little bar on the beach called "Black Rose" and then finally another couple of temples. By the time we had finished we had completely driven around the island and returned back to the hotel. On the way home we rang the hire company and asked to keep the car for an extra day so that we could use up the diesel that we put in and also to go exploring again.
That evening we headed back to the same bar that we were in last night, while we were on the way there the heavens opened and it chucked it down. Bars where bailing out the water that was flooding in, we managed to avoid most of the rain but got a bit wet while running across the road. Then the power went out to the whole street and we were set in the dark drinking while the owner found his way out to the back to turn on the generator.
Tomorrow was going to be a religious day (Buddha day) and the bar was going to be closed until 00:01 so the staff had the day off. Because we had been talking with Pup and Tae (the bar staff) we asked if they wanted to come out for a drive with us in the hire car, so we made plans to meet them at 9am. Then we carried on drinking with them until about 2am and headed home to the hotel.
