We left Thom's and headed back down the bush road with Steve in front so he could tow us if we got stuck in any deep mud. Once again we suffered damage as after nearly 50k and just nearing the end of the bush road we could hear and feel banking coming from the back of the truck. We waited until we got to the ranger station at the end of the trail to get out and investigate, only to be plagued once again by the Tetse fly swarming all over us. They are slightly bigger than a blue bottle and give quite a nip that you certainly feel when they bite you.
Peter got under the truck to investigate the dame whilst Paula and I kept the gathering locals distracted by once again handing out clothes, balls and baloons to the children who were cheering and clapping. One lady had taken some little boys clothes for her son who wsn't with her which had belonged to Paula's 5 year old grand son Sam. Just as we finally drove away she came running along with her little boy dressed in Sam's clothes so that he could say thank you. He stood looking as proud as punch in his new outfit as we took some pictures of him. It turned out that the damage this time was to our air suspension and the rubber bellow on the drivers side had punctured. Once more we limped back to Lusaka arriving in total darkness as the whole city had suffered a power cut including the camp site. Our truck is definately suffering now from wear and tear after the difficult journey we had had and we have decided that instead of going through Botswana and then Namibia to Cape Town we will give Botsana a miss as some of the roads are definate 4 x 4 routes and we don't want to incur further damage.
