NARRABRI-ARMIDALE

"The rains are coming Marge!"
We were sauntering along the Newell on route to visit friends on a property at Bingara, an hour east of Narrabri, blissfully unaware of why the highway seemed so quiet. Little did we know until we arrived in Narrabri, that they were expected to be flooded in within 24hrs and that the majority of major roads had been closed due to the water heading south and west from Moree, and north and west from Tamworth! It was suggested we vacate fairly swiftly unless we wanted to spend a week in Narrabri. Yikes! (see the cover Photo of Narrabri Creek) Let's get out of here! Although it was a little frustrating being an hour away from our friends, we needed to hot foot it south and do a big 6hr loop to Werris Creek, up the east side of Tamworth and back up through Armidale. We did say we had no plan and wanted to travel all over Australia!!
As it turned out we saw some beautiful valleys we were not anticipating, and now have the opportunity to check out Dangar Gorge waterfall amped up with water from the rains, 20k from Armidale.
