We've been on beautiful bottle beach for a week now and we've been far too busy doing nothing to write any blogs!
When we first got here, the weather was pretty mixed! It was warm, but cloudy, and the waves were big!
It didn't bother us too much, as we just chilled out and looked around a bit!
The place didn't seem to have changed too much. There were new bathrooms (which Sarah was pretty happy about) and a new beach bar. The restaurant had been redone a bit too, but things were mostly as we remembered! Paul is always sad to see change here of any type, but it was still all pretty lovely!
One thing we weren't expecting was a cold water shower, but it wasn't too bad!!
We've made a few friends, which has resulted in a few parties! This is the thing we think has probably changed the most, it has become more of a party beach! It's fun, but not the quiet, romantic beach it used to be! It could just be the people that we got to know, and the time of year though! It's their busiest period, and is known for the biggest full moon party of the year!
The weather cleared on Christmas Day! The sun started to shine and the sea started to calm! Normality was restored!
We've made a real effort to try to recognise Christmas, particularly Paul! We have the best looking hut on the beach and people thanked us for bringing the Christmas spirit!! We have fairy lights and a banner outside our room, and a tree, lights, presents, stockings and banners inside! The resort did a Christmas Eve BBQ, where we had a whole chicken between us, and there was a fire show and fireworks! It definitely felt like Christmas, albeit a very different Christmas! Paul had a game of Christmas football, which nearly killed him! We even had Christmas crackers and Santa arrived in the evening!
It's now Saturday, and we're due to head back to Bangkok tomorrow! We've had enough of buses, so we've booked a flight back. We're having some money issues, so we're not too sure where we're going after New Year! The plan is to go to Ankgor Wat and then spend the last week on an island in Vietnam, but we need to transfer some money to ourselves, and we're struggling.
We're feeling pretty chilled after a week here, and don't fancy stressing ourselves out spending two weeks travelling through Cambodia!!
If we do a trip like this again, we need to remember to start and end on a beach! Or maybe just stay on a beach the whole time ;)
