Day 44. We have seen almost nobody on these Corner Country roads for the past 2 days. Broke camp and headed 180km south on the Adventurers Way red dirt to Tibooburra. Road signs not good up here, thought we were lost and out came the GPS again. Used the sun as our guide, finally back on the Warrie Road to the border. Crossed into NSW by opening the Warrie Gate at the dog fence. Arrived into pretty little outback town of Tibooburra, refuelled and lunch of hamburgers and coffee. My father used to visit this town in the 1940's as a young PMG telephone technician from Broken Hill. The Variety Bash is going through town, caught the tail enders. Country music playing, great atmosphere. Then down the Silver City Highway to historic mining town of Milparinka, then turned off onto dirt road named The Opal Way to mining town of White Cliffs and onto sad little Darling River town of Wilcannia for another bush camp tonight down the road. Dinner soup, bread and a red around the campfire. Almost home now!
