Day 45. Lots of road trains passing during the night but we were snug in our tents hidden in the bush off the road with a warm little campfire. Drove 240km down the Barrier Highway to the bakery at old mining town of Cobar. Country becoming green now with lots of goats, roos and emus. Nice surprise in meeting Gavin and mates from Canberra on their way to do the Simpson Desert crossing. Checked out the huge hole in the ground Peak Gold Mine. Streets are lined with gold in Cobar so they say! Next stop Nyngan famous for the 1990 Bogan River flood and helicoptor evacuation. Headed south through village of Trundle where Raechel's friend Leonie grew up. Beautiful green wheat and yellow canola crops all around with giant silos by the railway line. Finally, stopped the night in pretty town of Forbes in the heritage Vandenberg Hotel circa 1880 and dinner at the nearby Forbes Inn. getting colder now, out come our jumpers!
