Final English days…
Before leaving Leeds for good we were eager to spend as much time as possible with friends. So the revelry started on Saturday night when Abi threw a great dinner for us, complete with homemade lasagne, a huge amount of strawberries and cream, and homemade orange cheesecake for desert. Here we also (finally) got to watch Braveheart (after searching for it all over the country).
Deciding that he liked our company, and frustrated with me for not calling him to meet up earlier, Danny continued our extended farewell with a great lunch at a local Headingly café Sunday after church. Hearing that we hadn't seen much of the countryside around Leeds itself he followed up with a fan-tastic trip out to Ilkley on Monday. We all had a great time having a 'proper English tea' at Betty's Tea Room (not letting them know that we were using up almost all our available cash (£10) on the tea!). Next was a stroll along the lovely canal and a drive on the Ilkley Moor.
We stopped off at the Leeds canal on the way home and went for what turned out to be quite a long (and beautiful) walk. Then it was some glasses of squash (cordial/un-fizzy 'pop') in the local. Once again, we had an amazing day.
The next day we got help taking the computer back (Danny) and a lift to the airport (crazy-driver Andy) and were off to Amsterdam. We are so appreciative of our wonderful friends and are keen to see them again in Oz sometime soon! Thank you guys!!! Sending lots of love across the channel and your way!!
