PAUL
If it is possible for people to melt to a puddle, then we came very close when we got off the train at Pisa. Fortunately, a hike, whoops, back-the-other-way-hike, bus ride and another hike later, we were at our accommodation - a camping ground with a pool, and we took the opportunity to cool off and spend the afternoon relaxing.
Then next day we made our plans and headed off to the leaning tower. When we got to 'The Field of Miracles', where the tower is, we had to resist the temptation to buy a 'genuine Rolex' and continue on to help the hundreds of other tourists holding up the tower (see pictures of course). Then, after seeing the cathedral and baptistery that are also in the field, and turning down the fantastic opportunity to buy 'genuine Gucci' handbags (we just couldn't work out why sellers disappeared when the police came by), we headed off to see the rest of Pisa.
We grabbed a bite to eat at a café away from the tourist area and went for a walk along the river before heading back to the pool.
