Leaving slovenia and entering croatia
We were woken up by our tokyo friend banging in the cupboard getting his stuff ready, we managed to get back to sleep then the second guy started banging, he also only stayed one night. Id given up at that point and texted emily as she was going to ireland that day and then went for a shower.
We were leaving on the 14:48 train to zagreb so left out luggage and wandered around the town one last time. I loved slovenia and would dBVefinetly recommend it, just bring a raincoat. There was still lots of this country to explore, the lakes at bled and the castle with 8000 bats near the caves in postojna, which was just two far for us to get too that day. If your thinking of a city break definetly consider slovenia the people are friendly, its a small country with most places an hour away by bus and the beers cheap as chips! Speaking of chips the fast food places dont do fries except for macdonalds.
On our journey around we walked through the hospital by mistake, copey joked it was the pyscho ward, then some nutter in a green outfit was jibbering loudly hanging out of the window. As we walked further round we saw one of the many strip clubs that were advertised in the hostel. We got the train and it was running 20 minutes late, we found a cabin in second class and i played scrabble to kill time. We got to passport control and the police women held my passport upto the window, she was probably wondering why my passport wasnt greek and didnt have the name theo papthitis in it, i got through anyway and we continued on into croatia.
We walked off the train and onto hobo bear hostel, i booked it because of the name and the reviews were good. They lived upto it too, this was the best hostel we had stayed in well worth the €20 a night. The woman on recpetion drew us a map of all the cheap microbreweries, yes i thought real ale. It didnt disappoint we headed to the first on where all beer was £1.17 a pint the place was called medvedgrad and it was hidden away down an alley way. We would of never found it if she hadnt put it on the map. We grabbed a bear paw steak which was basically steak cut into a bears paw with sauages as claws and came with potatoes and some kind of relish ontop, it was quality for £9. We got drunk in the bar then headed back to the hostel, some people were watching what happens in vegas, so we grabbed a few beers from reception and joined them until reception shut at 12.
Copey quote of the day : " does he even know how to drive an automatic? "
