The castle, another room mate and someone smelling my cheese.
We didnt wake up til gone 12 that day, copey got woken up by our roommate going and i got woke up by a new one joining us, seemed people only stayed in ljubjana for 1 night which is a shame this is a very good country. It was raining again so our plans for renting bikes where out the window, we got dressed in our best waterproofs and headed up the hill to the castle. On the way i posted the t-shirt bag home, it cost less than €3 and ive got confidence it will arrive so fingers crossed.
We got inside the castle and paid €5 for a virtual musuem and get access to the tower, copey wimped out so i headed upto the top tower on a spiral staircase that went on forever. When i got upto the top you got a panaramic view of the city , shame it was raining as it would of been good to get a picture of the alps just behind the city. I went back down and rejoined copey, the virtual museum was ready, it was a 3d movie about the castle and the town of ljubljana. Turns out that the city was founded by jason and his argonouts and they even mentioned the golden fleece... Dont know if its real but its a good story none the less. It then went through the history of ljubjlana, from the early times upto the world war, when it was under yugoslavian rule and then to its independence. We wandered around the castle abit more and walked back down the hill back to the centre.
We decided that £1 a pint was needed again so headed back to bar koda, we only had one and decided to go back to the hostel. I went to the supermarket to grab some food, i got a few cheese slices that an old women robbed at the till, i didnt know until i got back when i was trying to make a sandwich with no filling. :( hmmmm copey said maybe she wanted to smell my cheese! Well i hope it stinks lol
Later that evening we had a guy from tokyo in the room he had also just come from zagreb, he gave us the train timetable and we talked about our routes and where he had been. He again was only here for one night. Copey and i went out to grab a kebab for tea and then wandered to the centre of town as we had spotted a stage being erected early. It was raining again and no one was playing so hit a little bar where we got 2 pints of heiniken, it had free wifi so we looked at croatia and what we could do. We headed back to the room and found another room mate asleep wonder if he was staying more than one night....
Copeys quote: " i aint climbing no spiral staircase, fool! "
