Another 5am morning, as I needed to actually work and most of my tasks were from either the Central or East time zones...so early morning was appropriate. Maureen actually beat me and was already working when I headed downstairs. So the question of the day...how many professional women does it take to make coffee? Well, based on how long it took us to make one pot of coffee, maybe more than two. Let's just leave it at that.
By the time Paige rolled out of bed around 9am, I had been very productive and was ready to head into Seattle. We took advantage of being close to the Bremerton Ferry, which goes straight into downtown Seattle. The ride was about 45 minutes, and ended with a great view of the city. After checking into our spacious suite (thanks Ken!), we walking down to the docks to have fish and chips at Ivar's.
Ivar was a Seattle personality (now dead) who opened a fish bar, and subsequently a chain of both fast food and upscale fish restaurants. The original is down on the piers, with all outdoor seating and you can feed the seagulls. The seagulls are very chubby looking, which is probably normal as all they eat are french fries and fried fish. We contributed to their well fed look, and have to say they are very good at catching french fries in mid air.
After lunch we wandered through Pike Place Market, taking in the views of the fruit, seafood and beautiful flowers. At this point, Paige and I split up. I had to do get back to work and she was going to do some power window shopping for her up-coming trip to Africa.
We enjoyed a dinner at Tavolata, a great Italian place in Belltown, not far from the market. It had kind of a funky vibe, great service and wonderful food. A nice end to a nice day.
