Another cool trip for Ken and I, with a little Paige (Ken's daughter) time thrown in. This trip is one we have been planning for a long time, and is hard to believe it is finally beginning. We first go to Interlaken Switzerland, where we will meet up with Paige and two of her college friends. On Saturday, Paige will head to Barcelona for school, while we go to Florence Italy for our 6 day bike trip through Tuscany.
Well, the day started early as I woke up at 430 and decided to get some things done before our trip. Since I was in training all last week, I was feeling a bit stressed regarding still playing catch-up on work stuff. With coffee and my laptop, I was able to get through many of my outstanding emails that had been languishing at the bottom of inbox. I also had three conference calls and was starting to feel good about leaving for 2 weeks.
I was able to stop around 9am and start packing...yes, I hadn't packed anything and we were leaving in 90 minutes. Then I started stressing...I couldn't find the charger for my ipad keyboard, I couldn't find the camera, I needed to book my travel to Seattle for my client...oh yeah and we are now leaving in less than an hour. Ken, during this time is calmly packing. showering and generally enjoying the morning. At one point he asked if I wanted to take a walk, as it was beautiful out. WALK? I was still packing, showering and getting more aggravated by the moment that I couldn't find the charger and camera. Just so we are clear, this isn't my normal travel prep mode.
Finally packed, found the missing items and starting to get clarity on work travel, we left for the airport and I started to relax.
While we were in steerage to Newark, we had some comfy seats in first class to Zurich. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner, watched a movie then crashed until landing in Zurich.
