Ok, we are not quite escaping reality just yet. Both Ken and I have had some crazy work requirements over the past week, which makes it very difficult to relax and get in the vacation spirit. We were both still working this morning, but had to be on the road to the airport by 830. Luckily I had mostly packed last night, but Ken didn't home from work until 9p, so he still had to pack this morning.
We closed up the house, loaded the car and were on the road on schedule. Luckily, Houston traffic cooperated and we made it to the airport with some time to spare. With no one in line at the TSA pre-check, we were through security and in the club for some last minute emails. We headed to the plane and there was no one in the gate area…very weird. The gate agent said it was a light flight, so they had boarded early and were waiting only 7 more passengers (two of which were us). Oh well, they still left on time 25 minutes later.
The flight was uneventful, I got some work done and Ken took a little snooze. Before we knew it, we were in snowy Newark. We are now taking a quick break in the lounge, before heading to the next leg to Munich. We did hear from Paige, who is taking a different flight (due to using miles) through Amsterdam that she is on the plane and on schedule. An unexpected plus was they were testing Glenfiddich in the United Club in Newark…so Ken enjoyed that!
Our flight to Munich was relaxing, especially since our seats turned into beds and totally laid flat. Ken wasn't as comfy as I was, but we didn't know if that was due to the bed or to the huge ice cream sundae he enjoyed before the lights went out. Next stop…Munich and Salzburg!
