Ashley was going to do a 5am bird watching hike, while Katelyn and I slept in. Unfortunately, due to more rain the hike didn't happen, but she is still happy with her seeing 150+ species on the trip. We didn't see a Toucan, which is disappointing, but the monkey's made up for it.
The trip back to Puerto Maldonado seemed a lot faster than the trip up the river, and we were at the airport by noon We said our goodbyes to Oscar, who did a wonderful job with Ashley and the birds, while graciously dealing with the non-birders and outdoor wimps (Katelyn and I).
Flight to Cusco, then Lima was uneventful and Deborah, our meet/greet got us to our hotel in Miraflores a nice area near the ocean. We took MUCH needed hot showers, but still had to deal with damp and some very dirty clothes compliments of the Amazon. Oh well, at least we were clean!
We walked down to the Locamar Mall which is on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Lots of shops and restaurants, and we found a nice place for dinner with music and great menu. We were all exhausted, so headed back for a nice sleep in air-conditioning and behind locked doors!
