We actually got to sleep in today! Ok, kind of sleeping in. Ashley had a bird tour at the hotel at 630am so she needed to get up and walk 10 yards to the Eco desk, where the tour starts. I woke up about 6am and since we went to bed so early I was good for the day. Ashley and I wandered down to the resort cafe and where she got a bit to eat and I grabbed coffee. While she did the tour, I relaxed overlooking the river, checking email and enjoying the quiet morning.
Katelyn finally surfaced about 8am right when Ashley arrived, so we all went to breakfast. It was a nice buffet, but my favorite was the made to order quinoa pancakes. They were soooo good! We wandered into AC to check out souvenirs and made it back for our 1045am nature tour through the hotel grounds. We saw some very cool hummingbirds, big orchids (largest in the world), little orchids (smallest in the world...had to have a magnified glass) and tea/coffee gardens (they make their own coffee and tea at the hotel). We did a bit more climbing of stairs throughout the tour of the cloud forest, but nothing like yesterday!
Headed into AC for a light lunch, which ended up being really bad pizza. The worst part of the dining experience was seeing the waiter refold the napkins after the table next to us left. OMG! Thankfully we were early in the lunch hour so hopefully there wasn't a table before us. Did some power shopping (aka negotiating) for stuff and headed back to relax by the pool at the hotel.
Hit the train back to Cusco at 320p...ready to get in some reading, do this blog and relax!
Ok back in Cusco...great dinner of pasta and some weird peruvian appetizer (but really good), then on to find money. ATM in AC didn't work, now that damned thing in Cusco won't work...my guess is that the Amazon won't have many ATM's so kind of need some cash. Luckily found one that worked, so now at least have some money for the next four days .
Quote of the day: Ashley "what river will we be on tomorrow?"....hmmmm might that be the AMAZON???? Luckily her Masters degree wasn't in geography.
