Sleep!!! whewhoooo!! After such a bad nights sleep on Sunday, I was in need of some decent shut eye on Monday. And, I was happy that I in fact slept 10 hours and woke up Tuesday feeling great!
Tuesday, I spent the entire day at our offices, meeting with the team that I work with on a daily basis. It is so great to be able to put the names to the faces and learning more about them all as individuals. For the evening, we had an event planned with our 180 students in the hotel ballroom, so I made sure I was back in time for that activity.
I arrived to the ballroom with a band playing on the stage. I quickly learned it was the Deloitte India band, and they were very good! They regularly play at venues around the city, including the Hard Rock. It didn't take long before the entire ballroom was up dancing. Many of us coaches, were in the back enjoying the scene. But that didn't last long as the students came and got all of us to join them on the dance floor. There was no choice and we were quickly engulfed by the 20 somethings and doing our best to keeping up with their dancing pace. Unfortunately, there were many cameras aimed at us and my fear is there will be a YouTube video or Facebook posting as proof in the near future.
That night, was another futile sleeping attempt and I ended up with a few hours, which was far less than I needed for the day. The Wednesday activity is working closely with the students on a project simulation. Not the type of day where I can just relax and not be engaged. I am not a caffeine drinker, but did make sure I had some at various points to keep my energy level at a normal level. Three coaches were assigned to a room with 4 groups of 6 students.
I have been so impressed by our students this week. They all have their Masters degrees, and I found that while many have their undergrad degrees in Engineering (of all types, chemical, electrical, petro, etc), their Masters are normally a MBA or in Human Resources. What a great combination. They are well spoken (in several languages), professional, love hiking, biking and the outdoors and seem to all love Game of Thrones (it was a theme for my 4 groups). Just like any other 20 somethings in the world.
Wednesday night was spent having dinner with my team from the office. One of my fellow coaches, Dave from New Hampshire joined us, as he also works closely with them. The team chose the Trident hotel, and we enjoyed an excellent buffet of Indian and Italian cuisine. Funny, Dave and I both focused on the Indian food, while our Indian colleagues all went for the Italian!
On Thursday we worked with our groups on their presentations and deliverables. As in any group situation, one group outshines the others, one group struggles and two groups are normal. Typical bell curve! That night, we were treated to a Coaches Appreciation dinner at the Park Hyatt. The hotel was beautiful and dinner was great. But, the highlight was one of our employees who is a Sand Artist. As you can see from the pictures, he did some amazing pictures with sand...all to music and a narrative about the friendship between India and the US.
Tomorrow, is the last day of work, with our students presenting. It is hard to believe the week is almost done! Ashley, Paige and Katelyn are on the plane bound for Delhi, where they will arrive around 1am Friday night/Saturday morning. Then, the touring begins!

Linda Sounds like a wonderful experience - even if it was work related. Enjoy traveling with the girls.
[email protected] I was just thinking about you and that I had heart nothing....we saw about the 160 persons perishing in Pakistan , yesterday and thought maybe you were returning to Houston...which brings me to the question:"just what are you doing in india?"other than visiting the taj mahal cannot think about anything that would bring me there in 125 fahrenheit.it was 104 here yesterday (yes, tito came through and mowed and cut back and trimmed some..)but I stayed in the house and watched from inside...(not that I learned anything....ha)so, all is quiet once again on supplejack and maybe everyone is looking out once in a while and, the weatherforecast is: hot and cloudy with a slight (very slight) chance of rain.so, there is not much news... I hope you are enjoying the rest of your trip, I hope you get to see the taj mahal... I always liked the story attached to it, send me a photo please if you go.... other than that we try to keep the "b***** bears" away" haven't seen too many..... take care and stay in touch....maria
