Day 33 Today started by headed east along Lasseters Highway. This was named after an early explorer who headed out west from the Olgas and after sheltering in a cave for 25 days, attempted to walk the 100+ km back, perishing along the route. It's a bit of a treat to have our rear view mirror back as this kept coming loose from it's attachment on the unsealed outback roads. Day 16 The Nullarbor, the word coming from "nullus arbor" meaning no trees, is an empty stretch of the Eyre highway between Ceduna in South Australia over to Norseman in Western Australia. The photo is from the Nullabor golf course which is the longest in the world, stretching 1365km with holes at each of the different towns across the route. Day 15 Travelling along the Eyre highway the first thing you see as you approach a town is the huge grain silos towering above the trees. Almost all the small settlements seem to have one, accompanied by a railway siding to transport it off to market. Grain is stored until the prices are favourable to sell. Day 14 Long drive from Coober Pedy to Port Augusta (so long Michael even got me to drive 200km) where stocked up on supplies and cups of McDonalds coffee. One of the bolts holding the roof bars onto the car worked itself loose while we were doing the Skytrek 4WD track last week in the Flinders ranges.
