This is one vast country. Flying over this arid land is mind blowing. Brown, and did I mention vast! The odd house in the middle of what appears to be nowhere. Glimpses of water. Not sure why we had a safety briefing on life jackets. Can't see myself drowning if we crash!

My grandfather isn't doing very well, he's 95 and reluctantly been placed in a rest home - somewhere he really didn't want to go to. I had a conversation with dad before I left about Grandad not surviving the transition to the home. Dad was pretty adamant that I needed to keep going with my plans and what would be would be. Flying from Sydney to Darwin I had plenty of time to think and write our a eulogy for grandad in case he passed while I was away. I've been told to keep going on the holiday no matter what. A difficult place to be in, but I do understand the heartbeat behind it.
