I woke around 5am and didn't bother trying to get back to sleep.
There was a definite change in vibrations and engine noise, and I didn't realise, but one row ahead of me were windows! I could see we were in the shipping lane as marker buoys were visible.
I got up about 5:30am and started making my way back up to Deck 10 to maybe get some photos. We had already docked at Devonport and it was very foggy.
Over the PA came the disembarking procedures. Deck 5 (and 3 I think) were first to disembark. Winner!
It was 6:35am when I drove off. Still a bit dark and foggy.
What to do? As I don't have any plans for the holiday, I thought I'd check out Devonport. There wasn't much open, but I did manage to find a Woolies and stocked up some supplies.
There is a fruit fly zone in force, so there was no point in getting any fruit and veg yet.
While in the carpark, I did some checking of WikiCamps for somewhere to stay. I decided to check out the camping area at a town called Forth. 15 minutes later, and I was there. Mmmm, Tasmania is small!
Forth looked good, so my decision was made to stay for a night or two.
Now what? It was still only 8am. I decided to leave the camper still attached to the car and head to Ulverstone. Well that took 10mins.
I walked around Ulverstone for a while and also stocked up on some fruit and veg.
Then the massive 10 min drive back to Forth.
I was about to set up my camp, but the mower guys were doing their thing. I moved to allow them to mow where I was planning to set up, then moved back and set up camp for the day.
So day 1 on the island was not much sightseeing and a relaxing afternoon!
