We have been so busy with fun activities we haven't had chance to get on the internet for nearly a week - this will be a long blog entry so get yourself a cup of tea now!!
Wednesday we woke up in Agnes Waters/1770. Today we had booked ourselves in for a surf lesson. Luke our surfer dude picked us up at 9.30am and told us there would only be three of us!! The beach was only five minutes from our hostel and was perfect for learner waves. We unloaded our boards and took them down to the beach. He gave us a quick lesson on the sand, put on our rash vests and got in to the water!! It was so much fun, we both did better than we thought we would do, although we were very tired by the end of it. We then went back to the hostel to get changed for our next activity - Scooter Roo!! This was a tour of the town on mini Harley Davisons. This was more scary than the surfing!! We saw some wild kangaroos and the scenery was lovely although we kept our eyes on the road as we were so nervous!! We watched the sunset. A very tiring day and then we had an overnight coach journey to Airlie Beach!!
We arrived in Airlie Beach at 7am!! We didn't sleep well on the coach, it was packed. We couldn't check in until 12 so we went for a coffee and a walk around, it is a lovely town and very hot!! We spent most of the day sunbathing on the grass by the sea, still didn't get to sleep though. We both really ached from the surfing, most exercise we've done in months!! We spent the evening packing for our Whitsundays trip.
Friday we checked out, stored our luggage and got ready for our Whitsundays tour - which included buying beer!! We got to the marina and boarded the "New Horizon", our home for the next two days. It was smaller than it looked in the brochure. We set sail towards the Whitsunday Islands, it looked lovely from the boat. We had dinner, met a few people had a beer and went to bed. (We shared the smallest double bed you've ever seen!!)
Surprisingly we slept well and woke up about 6.45am. We had breakfast and sailed to Whitehaven Beach. We got off and spent some time at the beach, the most beautiful beach we've seen so far. We took lots of photos and walked to the lookout point. We didn't see any stingrays! Got back on board and sailed to Luncheon Bay where we had lunch!! We did some snorkelling here, we saw lots of fish and colourful coral. There was really no need to dive here, everything was at the surface. The only thing is the water was really cold compared to Thailand! Got back on the boat to get changed then they dropped us on on beach where we saw the sunset - this was awesome!! Had dinner and just chilled out with everyone on board.
We woke up at 6.15am, had breakfast then did more snorkelling before heading back to the marina. There were a lot more fish here although we didn't get to see Big Elvis! Visability wasn't as good here, again we were glad we didn't dive! It was a bit of a rough ride back, but we felt ok. We got ready to go to the "after party" at Phoenix Bar, where we had pizza and more beer!! We got quite drunk and had a really good time.
Today we are just chilling and sorting bits out as we have to get another overnight coach to Misson Beach later tonight.
