We were surprised by the small size of the village as we came in to the main bazaar of hampi. Most places rented out a couple of rooms in their family house. We picked the first place we saw, dumped our bags, and then went to sign in at the local police station, something we have only had to do here. We arrived into the fancy Bangalore airport and found a bus to take us to town. A guy took us to his hotel, which was a bit of a dive, but would do us the night. The shower turned out to be just for show, unconnected to the water supply, and the toilet didn't flush. After our night on the train in ac3, we were handed our 'non-veg' breakfast, which consists of two slices of bread, a pea omlette, a mango juice carton, and chaicoffee. After a good sleep, we woke up and arranged to go on a tiger safari in the afternoon. We chilled out on the balcony, and then had lunch (Hugo's favourite meal yet - a rich chicken curry), before buying some snacks for the safari and boarding our truck.
