We arrived into the fancy Bangalore airport and found a bus to take us to town. A guy took us to his hotel, which was a bit of a dive, but would do us the night. The shower turned out to be just for show, unconnected to the water supply, and the toilet didn't flush. We spent the morning in cubbon park, a large forested park in the middle of the city - a spot for lovers and families. We were on our way to find some lunch, and looking lost, a guy pulled up in his big 4x4 and asked if we needed help. He gave us a lift to the road we were looking for, and even offered to take us for tea! He gave us his card and said to call him if we needed any help whilst in Bangalore - what an act of kindness! We found ourselves at UB city, a complex of designer shops, restaurants and hotels owned by the owner of kingfisher. The shops were all far too upmarket for us, but we did have a nice lunch with live singer and mocktails. We then walked to the inox cinema, located inside a big mall. In the entrance, a crowd had gathered for what looked like a clean and clear competition. One of the women was very glam, and we figured she must be famous as everyone wanted a photo with her. We booked tickets to see interstellar (in English this time), and with an hour to wait, Hugo went to KFC and had a small snack. Security for the film was unusually strict - I had to hand over the battery for my camera. We bought some popcorn (a range of masala, chaat, salt, cheese, chilli and caramel was available) and found our seats. The Indian custom of having an intermission in films meant that the film was cut mid sentence, which was not welcome. Hugo had to explain the film to me afterwards as I got a bit lost. At 1.30am, we left the cinema, avoided the extortionate taxis outside, and got one for half the price down the road. The next morning, we went to see the mosque, an old fort that was just next to the street, and tipu sultan's palace. We then walked to lal bagh gardens, which had a pavilion a bit like at Kew gardens, a bonsai tree garden, a Japanese garden (although the statues looked remarkably Indian), a fountain, lake , rose garden, and the cutest monkey we have seen so far (think it was a bonnet macacque). It was a good attraction for 10p each! For tea we went to the smokehouse, and had unlimited alcohol for £6 each. We had a yummy raspberry and Oreo cheesecake to finish! We took full advantage of the unlimited alcohol, and were suitably sleepy for the sleeper bus that evening to hampi. The bus was cool, with a double bed and little luggage rack and curtain. It was a cosy but bumpy ride, and at half 6 in the morning, we woke up and dragged our bags off the bus, before hauling them in to a rickshaw and making our way through banana plantations to the bazaar, where the guesthouses are.

Davina 10p not bad for the attraction! A sleeper bus - amazing, and another act of random kindness!
